Wall wrap cost

What does a wall wrap cost? Here's what moves the number.

Ardor doesn't publish a price per square foot, because no two walls are the same. Every wall is quoted after a free on-site measure. Here's what we look at, plus calculators to size your wall and compare options.

The short answer

Size first, then everything else

"Most wall wraps are priced by the square foot, so the size of your wall wrap project is the biggest factor." That's from Ardor's own wall wrap guide, and it still holds.

After size come the surface, the film, the laminate, the design work and how hard the wall is to reach. Removal of anything already on the wall can add labor too.

The seven things that set the price

These are the questions we answer at every on-site measure.

Cost driverWhat we look atPushes cost up when
SizeWidth and height of every wall, minus doors and windowsFloor-to-ceiling murals run across several walls
SurfacePaint sheen, age and texture; brick, block, concrete or glassThe wall needs sanding or priming, or a textured film applied with heat
FilmRemovable, permanent, textured or exterior-rated filmA textured or exterior-rated film is needed
LaminateMatte, luster, gloss, dry-erase or anti-graffitiA specialty laminate such as dry-erase or anti-graffiti is added
DesignPrint-ready art, art built from your logo, or a custom muralA custom mural is designed from scratch (design is quoted separately)
Install accessCeiling height, stairwells, lifts and after-hours workLifts, tall walls, ceilings or after-hours installs are needed

One more detail: wall film prints on 54-inch rolls, so wall widths that waste roll width cost a little more per usable square foot. Sources: Ardor's wall wraps page and wall guide; roll width from Ardor's production specs.

Size estimator

Wall wrap size estimator

Add each wall, subtract doors and windows, and pick a film and surface. You'll see the area, the number of printed panels and notes for your wall. Your price comes from a free on-site measure.

Estimate only. Final price depends on the wall, film, design and access. Free quote.

How we estimate

Wall film prints on 54-inch rolls with about 52 inches of usable print width. Panels overlap at least half an inch at each seam, as Avery recommends, so each panel covers about 51.5 inches of wall. Panels per wall = wall width divided by 51.5 inches, rounded up. Printed material is counted at full roll width, plus a little extra height for trimming. Every assumption is listed below with its source or marked as a placeholder.

Cost over time

Wall wrap vs paint vs wallpaper: cost over time

Paint, wallpaper and a printed wrap last different lengths of time and cost different amounts to redo. Enter your own prices and see the total and per-year cost over the years you'll keep the space.

Comparison tool only. It uses the numbers you enter. Paint, wallpaper and a printed wall wrap do different jobs, so compare the look as well as the cost.

How it works

Each option gets redone every time its life runs out. Installs come in whole numbers, so a 6-year life over 10 years still means two installs. Removal, upkeep and days the space is disrupted are added for each cycle. Defaults are placeholders: every number is yours to change, and the wrap price stays blank until you enter one or get a quote.

Rule of thumb

Four ways to keep the cost down

Practical tips from how wall jobs are priced. Labeled rule of thumb: your quote is what counts.

  • Design

    Send print-ready art

Finished artwork costs less than a mural designed from scratch, because design is quoted separately.

  • Size

    Start with one feature wall

Size drives price. One feature wall in the right spot costs less than wrapping the whole room.

  • Surface

    Prep the paint right

Cured semi-gloss paint on smooth drywall is the easiest surface. Flat, satin and scrubbable paints can mean extra prep.

  • Install

    Group walls into one visit

Measuring and installing several walls in one trip uses crew time better than separate jobs.

Why no price list?

Two walls the same size can be different jobs

A 12 by 9 foot wall in a new office and a 12 by 9 foot block wall in a gym need different film, prep and install time. A single price list would be wrong for one of them. A free on-site measure gets you a real number.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does a wall wrap cost?

Most wall wraps are priced by the square foot, so size is the biggest factor, followed by surface, film, laminate, design and access. Ardor quotes every wall after a free on-site measure. Use our size estimator to see your square footage first.

How much does a wall mural cost?

A printed wall mural is priced like a wall wrap: mostly by square foot, plus design. A hand-painted mural is priced mainly by the artist's time (industry rule of thumb).

Is design included in the price?

No. Design is quoted separately. If you have print-ready art, there's no design fee.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. Quotes and on-site estimates are free. Send photos and measurements, or we come measure.

Is a wall wrap cheaper than paint or wallpaper?

Up front, paint usually costs less for a solid color (rule of thumb), and it can't carry a printed image. Over time it depends on how often each one gets redone. Our cost-over-time calculator lets you test it with your own numbers.

Why do textured walls cost more?

Block, brick and heavy texture need a conformable textured-wall film worked in with heat, or prep such as sanding and priming first. Both take more time and material.

Do you need a deposit?

Yes. Print projects need a 50% deposit before printing or scheduling, and design work starts once a deposit is in.

How can I pay?

Ardor accepts Apple Pay, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Affirm, PayPal, Venmo, cash, check, ACH and bank transfer.
